~ The Beginning ~

Lyra was born in the lands of the Far East, in the region of Hingashi, into a family that served the Shogun. Her family had the "High Honor" of leading the political scene in her area to help keep the peace between the different tribes.

Since Lyra's Namesday, she has always been a "spectacle" of her family. With the Mark of Thaliak inscribed in her eyes, people surrounding her always thought of her as "more" then what she felt she could ever give. She was always regarded as a "Natural Leader" and the "Hope of our Family". She just wanted to be Lyra.

Growing up, Lyra never knew the meaning of the word "Peace". She remembers of a time that she was deemed to determine the fate of small neighboring tribe as one of her many lessons. They had started to grow in size and food supplies would always be near empty. At the age of 12, it was then her responsibility to supervise the efforts in raising the town. She remembers the phrase they used for this tribe...ah yes a "learning experience for her". That tribe did not make it, and was simply written as "an unfortunate lesson". More "lessons" concerning governance of people would follow, as well as the cruelties she would be forced to watch...and even command to have happen at times.

At the age of 18, Lyra ran away from home for the first time. The responsibilities...the lives..it was too much for her. She never wanted to be responsible for a persons life let alone a population! Though Lyra was able to see the shores of her village, she was quickly apprehended and subdued by her parents and the guard they commanded. Lyra will not think on the punishment given for the attempt.

At 25, Lyra had given up on leaving and had long since settled into her role, even among her own hatred for it. She soon found herself walking along the same shores she tried to run away to, feeling a cage put around her. In that moment, a she happened across a marooned ship a ways out. She soon met the Pirate who owned said ship and found herself going back daily to hear about the outside world. The Pirate talked of freedom and adventure...it was everything she had wanted to experience. Then, the day the he fixed his ship, he had made an offer that would spark the beginning of her chosen life.

~ The Incident ~

The Pirate's offer was a simple to join him when he was to set sail next, which was deliberated and planned for that night. Lyra was to get a simple list together to get ready of the coming journey. Even with all the talk and stories, she has yet to even learn this man's name...why is she even doing this again? The thoughts did little to stop her own feet, however, and she soon found herself back on the shore that night to start a new life....

She should have known that things are never that easy. . . It happened quickly and without remorse. Lyra and the Pirate started to board the ship when voices were heard just a bit away. It was her parents, and a small army of Au Ra's ready for command. There were no words...no bargaining...just a nod. Her father turned to one soldier and just nodded, and they charged.

The Pirate never stood a chance, the numbers were too great. Lyra knew this but found herself rooted to the ground, too afraid to move. The Pirate though? He only smiled, threw Lyra on the boat, and kicked it out to sea. The last thing she heard before the calm of the sea took over, was her parents shout "You will never be welcome back here, our daughter is dead!". The last thing she saw before the blackness of the night took over...was the pirate on the ground.

~ A Realm Reborn ~

It had been 3 long years since she left the shores of The Far East. During this time, she will just simply find herself wandering. Go to a village here, take a boat there. She would strive to find joy in helping the people that she was able to meet.....just like the Pirate had done for her. While traveling, she was quick to learn the arts of the Arcanists to help to defend herself. While she did not find it easy to learn at first, she soon found it alien to NOT have the heavy tome in her vicinity.

One day, while she was lost and wandering, a cart happened along the same path. She happily took the offer for a ride, eventually slipping into dreams...dreams of light? What was this dream? All Lyra could hear was the faint words echoing "Hear...Feel...Think", and all she could see was the blinding light and infinite void. A masked man....a book of light....and then...Lyra awoke.

In the weeks that followed, Lyra's days were filled with so many new experiences that it is still hard for her to recount them all. She met the scions and learned of her gift, she learned of the Primals and their destructive powers, and she learned more of the land of Eorzea itself. After traveling alone, Lyra believed that she would never feel a "driving force" in her life again...but...she fell in love with the lands of Eorzea quickly and soon found her inspiration again. Lyra found that, as the Warrior of Light, she had a purpose. Now, instead of a life of forced ideals and notions, she gets to have her own dreams.

Dreams comes with a price, however, and Lyra would soon learn of everything that was owed. For, as a Warrior of Light, as much as she got to see the good of Eorzea, she also witnessed the horrors. Brothers fighting against brothers, entire towns teetering on the edge of political stress, even down to the beastmen being terrified for their own lives and lands. During these moments of spite and hatred, she often thinks about the Pirate that saved her years ago. He did it with a smile and no remorse, even as HE paid the price. She would do the same. And so, Lyra pushed forward into the darkness hoping to be the Light everyone says she is.

After fighting off the Garlean's, and securing victory over The Ulitima Weapon, Lyra may have let her guard down a little too much. She wanted so much to save the people that are HER light that she forgot about the darkness lurking. In Ul Dah, she would work to secure a better future, just to be met by the fangs of a snake. When running from the zealots and escaping the city, she could only think about her Scion friends left behind.....
